Event Description:

Please come along to the Club’s monthly dinner at Shanghai Fraternity Association. For the month of December, our Board Director Paul Wong has invited our special guest, Mr. Lawrence Yu, the Chairman and co-founder of Totodi Technology to share his insights and experiences about Entrepreneurship in China as well as his summit to Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world.

Speaker: Mr. Lawrence Yu

Lawrence is the Chairman and co-founder of Totodi Technology. Totodi is a leading fintech and regtech company focusing on providing SaaS-based total IT solution, information security, cloud storage and compliance services to private equity funds, investment trusts, banks and asset management companies.

Before founding Totodi, Lawrence was Lenovo's Head of Global Engagement Marketing, responsible for its worldwide social media marketing. Prior, he was the Executive Assistant to the Chairman & CEO of Lenovo, assisting to shape corporate strategy, oversee execution and manage key relationships. Lenovo's share price quadrupled during his tenure.

Joined Lenovo from Citigroup's highly selective Global Leadership Program, from New York to Sao Paolo, Lawrence created the first China-focused financial services team in the entire Brazilian banking industry, serving clients in Chinese, English and Portuguese. When leaving Brazil, Citi’s Chinese clients had grown from just 2 to 9 already.

Even prior, Lawrence held various supply chain management roles at Dell’s headquarter in Austin, Texas. In 2006, at the age of 24, he was managing 800million USD annual procurement budget for key components. He was the youngest Global Procurement Manager in Dell’s history.

Lawrence earned his MBA from Harvard Business School (2007-2009) and BA from Michigan State University (2000-2003). Outside of work, Lawrence is a founding member of Harvard University South China Alumni Club, and serves as the VP of Harvard Business School Beijing Alumni Club. Regularly, he has been invited to give inspirational speeches based on his bestseller (Poor Kid Coming to Harvard, China's Top 50 Best Sellers in 2012). In 2017, he represented Harvard University and won the overall championship of The Last Man Standing, a worldwide knowledge competition among elite universities. On May 19, 2018, Lawrence successfully summited Mt. Everest, becoming the first fintech professional and the first Harvard graduate to accomplish such feat. He is passionate about sports, especially American football, basketball and swimming.
