Speaker Bio

Dr. Jane Goodall, The Woman Redefined Man

November 60 years ago, a 26 year old girl from England hid among the robust leaves in the lush rainforest of Gombe, Tanzania, and saw something no one else had previously recorded. A chimpanzee she named David Greybeard was along stalks of grass eating ants out of a mound. This woman was Jane Goodall.

“At that time, it was thought that humans, and only humans, used and made tools. I had been told from school onward that the best definition of a human being was man the tool-maker, yet i had just watched a chimp tool-marker in action. I remember that day as vividly as if it was yesterday” - Dr. Jane Goodall

Dr. Jane Goodall changed our perceptions of primates, people and the connection between the two. And over the past 60 years, Goodall herself has also evolved from steadfast scientist to passionate conservationist and humanitarian, urging each of us to take action on behalf of all living things and the planet we share.
